At the end of tomorrow I won’t be a teacher anymore. That
being said, soon, I won’t be able to decorate my blog with my students’ work.
So, today is dedicated to my sweet kids. They’ve been writing poems, this one,
by Clarissa, is of my favorites:
All of us were born in this world,
we all distinguish the good from the bad,
but it seems too difficult to do the
correct thing.
How can you expect this world to change if
you don’t change yourself first? Life is a
game and you got to play among the rules.
That’s the problem, no body plays among the
rules, nobody thinks what’s best for everybody, they
think of what’s best for themselves.
They control us, they fill their pockets with
our money, they don’t give us what we ask for when
we ask for it, they give it when it’s too late, so we
will be happy with anything they give us at the end.
We should all stand up, and fight for
what we want, because if we don’t
speak for ourselves, nobody will ever speak
for us.
And, because I love girls who are strong, here’s another
one, by Maria.
I can exceed expectations
I am just a regular
girl with no powers
but I am still my own hero, I can be the one to exceed
expectations from others.
I don’t let anybody let me down cause
someone told me that words and ideas can change
the world
I expect a lot from me. I just want to be someone
important in life.
I am not perfect, I learn from others, from my mistakes
I believe in me and God
me and my family, we’ve been through a lot of problems
but none of made me me quit, I don’t give up
I am really confident in myself.
I do MMA and that makes me confident
and strong.
I’m very thankful for those teachers
in the world who still have hope
in us
that believe we can make a better world.
When I consider my students, their benevolence, and their
ability to see faults in the world respond with passionate ideas for fixing
them, I have faith in the future. I have a day left with these kids, but the
lessons they’ve taught me, the spirits they’ve stirred in my soul have
cultivated a far better version of myself than I could ever take credit for. My
students inspire me. I’m leaving them for now, but I have a strong inkling that
I’ll see them again. As presidents of humanitarian organizations, policy
makers, doctors, reporters, writers, musicians, as people who are certainly
making a
better world.
