Over the weekend, my friend, Betsy, and I roadtripped to Austin, a (rather) short 5 hour drive away. We left Friday after school and made it our place of weekend residence by 10:30 Friday night. The two of us overtook the living room of my friends', Will, Hollie, and Jess', place and then Betsy, Jess, Hollie, and I, drink in hand, took the porch for some late night conversation.
Saturday Betsy and I jetsetted around Austin, hunting for an apartment for Betsy. After a full day of driving and stopping and walking and driving and stopping and signing papers, we returned to the townhouse of our dear friends. As we entered, Will left to pick up Hollie (saying hello, of course, first). Betsy and I laced our running shoes and trotted (slowly) for 4 miles. Shortly after we returned and showered, Will returned, Hollie in tow, and Jess joined us from her upstairs bedroom (office).
Hollie whipped up some pretty incredible soup and a salad for dinner and the 5 of us took our plates outside and started on Saturday night the same way our Friday night ended, in conversation. Throughout the night, there were things said that confused me and proved disagreeable to me, but I never felt angry or annoyed, I never wanted to plug my ears and make obnoxious noises (like I did when I used to fight with my sister). It was conversation, a mutual sharing of ideas, accompanied by an open mindedness (generally) to differences. It was refreshing and satisfied my craving for fellowship.
I truly have incredible friends and over the weekend, from them, I learned that loving is pure conversation, fellowship.
